A nice and easy exercise to practice performance

Good news! There are only five concepts to master to become a better speaker: invention, arrangement, style, memory and performance.

Bad news…it takes a life to fully explore them.

Geart news! With a good training, you will rapidely improve your rhetorical skills. Here we go.

Let us practice performance with a nice and easy exercise.

1) Read the following quote:

So and even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.”

2) Now, perform it. I mean, say it like you really understand how powerful those words are. There are 2 basics tools you can play with: the pitch (you can make your voice louder or softer) and the rhythm (you can speak faster, slower and pause).

3) Now, compare your performance with the original:

4) Do this exercise again and again with parts of speeches that you love.
